Meeting - September 2016
Submitted by Wayne RumleyThe first meeting after recess is usually a quiet one for us, and for this reason we rarely do any 'work' on the night. That's not to say we don't put every effort into having a good meeting!
We had Fraternal visits from Amity Lodge No. 3193 and Nautilus Lodge No. 4259. Whilst both of their Worshipful Masters were predisposed at work, Amity was well represented by their IPM, W Bro Richard Storey, and Nautilus by Bro Les Adams (JW), who delivered his first visitors' response at the festive board.
We invited W Bro John Bambrough Gibson, PJGD, PPJGW, to give another one of his excellent lectures. Having previously heard his lectures on the Battleship Bismarck and the Cruiser Graf Spee, we asked him to deliver the story of the Battleship Tirpitz, the Bismarck's sister ship. As expected, it was excellent. Very well researched and presented. John advised that since retiring he spends two or three days a week researching his lectures, and it shows. We look forward to inviting him back soon.
After retiring to the festive board we all enjoyed a fine three-course meal. The usual toasts were given and the eveining was formally closed.
October will bring a first degree demonstration, getting in some practise before we welcome a new candidate in January.
Hope to see you all at a meeting soon.
