Meeting - January 2018

Submitted by Wayne Rumley

It was the first night for our newly installed officers and we kicked off in style. We had a candidate for initiation, so they were all going to be put to immediate test!

As is more often than not the case these days, we again had several absentees due to work, holiday, and sickness. The missing officers were more than adequately covered by their stand-ins.

It is fair to say that all the officers put in a great performance for their first night in their new positions, and also a very fine performance to introduce our new brother to the Craft. The candidate also conducted himself very well, most especially in the response to his toast, and we are confident he will be a great addition to our lodge, and to the Craft in general. We all look forward to following him on his journey.

Our Fraternal visitors on this occasion were Phoenix Lodge No. 94, represented by their Worshipful Master who was accompanied by a good number of brethren, and St. Peter's Lodge No. 8953, represented by their Worshipful Master. Phoenix Lodge edge us by 16 months in age, and there is a good bond between us, having a combined 522 year history! There is also a strong bond with St. Peter's Lodge. They are a daughter lodge of ours, and are the only local lodge to follow the same workings (Old Workings).

Once again, a fine festive board followed the meeting.

We plan on having a lecture in February, and, all being well, we will be initiating another new candidate in March. Here's hoping it's the start of many more newcomers.

As ever, until the next time.
